Image Naming: Use a descriptive name for your file. You should use your important keyword in name of the image. If you are using a long filename you can use hyphen instead on underscore as a keyword separator. Title Attribute: Use a descriptive title text for your image. You must include your keyword in title tag as it is an important point in image optimization.

Surrounding text: The text which is used around the image is very important as it adds the relevancy to the image. So must use relevant and keyword rich text around the image.

Description Attribute: You can use a long Desc attribute to describe the image in detail. It will help to provide information about the content of images.

Heading tags: The heading tag used on the webpage help in getting ranking for the webpage as well as images. So if the image is very important, you can use the relevant heading tag on the page.

Incoming links: Just like web promotion, we should add incoming links for the image. Use your targeted keyword with some variation for back links.

Use the image on relevant page: It helps a lot. You should use the image on the relevant page. For example like above, if your image is about the diamond stud earrings, it is better to use that image on earring page like diamond-stud-earrings.html

Enhanced image search: For optimizing your images in Google, just log in webmaster account and activate the enhance image search feature.

Ranking of web page: Ranking for the parent webpage is very important. If you webpage is ranking well then there are a lot of chances to rank your image. If the pages in which you have used the images are not valuable in search engine’s eye then search engine might not rank the image.

Important Notes:

Optimize/reduce the size of images because not all the users use high bandwidth connections. There are lots of chances to visit your images if your images are lightweight.

It is good Idea to check your images in search engine index. Ensure that your image is not filtered out from safe search filters of search engine. For example your can use site:domainname.com in image search box.

Should We Trust on Site Command – Seo Tips

Many Search engine optimizers use site command to check the number of index pages of their site in any search engine. To check how healthy site is in any particular search engine SEOs use site:www.yoursite.com query. It is pretty well if 90% pages are indexed in search engine.

But the main problem is, the site operator is not reliable to check the number of index pages as these days users are reporting that Google is dropping their pages or Microsoft is dropping the pages. So SEO determines this drop of pages in search engine by using Site command.

Is this a good way to see how many pages are index in search engine?
After reading and searching on various forums I came to know that the answer is NO. You should not depend on site operator to check the number of index pages in search engine.

In Google Groups Googler JohnMu wrote why you should not depend on these numbers. He told it might be:

the previous approximation was incorrect, the current one is closer to the actual number of URLs that we have indexed or would show to users
the previous approximation was close and the current one is worse than before (this can happen)
a change in our algorithms (we make a lot of changes that will impact crawling, indexing and ranking -- for some sites perhaps more than for others)
an issue on your website (perhaps it's not reachable or the site is returning server errors -- you can find out more in your Webmaster Tools account).

At the same time Jeremiah Andrick from Microsoft told that it is not reliable to use Site operator to check the number of index pages. By using Site: operator you can only get an estimate about the number of index pages in search engine.

I think all SEOs use this operator, but now it is the time to think again :-)>.

An excellent announcement by Yahoo Search Marketing blog that the people which are using sponsored search functionality of Yahoo can blog 500 domain now instead of standard 250.

This is very helpful and good news for those advertisers as the number of blocked domains has increased by double. But still there is a problem that advertisers are getting “lesser quality traffic” from yahoo search partners. I was reading some forum, there a user mentioned that 500 blocked domains are not enough and other mentioned that he wishes to block the all non Yahoo domains.

Confused between search engine optimization and search engine marketing? Is there any difference between both these terms/techniques? I was also very confused about these terms. After some study on Internet, I come to know about the difference between SEO and SEM. Below you will get my views (after analyzing various forums and articles) about search engine optimization and search engine marketing. I wrote this article to clarify the difference between Search engine optimization and Search engine Marketing. Search Engine Marketing
Search Engine Optimization is a form of Internet Marketing which includes paid listing PPC (pay per click) and natural search engine optimization (SEO), Text Ads, Banner Ads and Press Release etc.
SEM is the process of using search engines as an advertising tool.

SEM or Search engine marketing includes all the works required for increasing the visibility of a website and getting leads either by ethical search engine optimization or paid inclusion in PPC or banner advertisement.

Google Adword, Yahoo Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter are top search engine marketing vendors. They provide text advertisements, which appear at the right side or on the top of result pages. According to me the content freshness play important role in search engine optimization. There are two different types of updation which we required in different situations.

Updation in site: We need to update the site by adding any page. Because if we don’t any update the site for a long time, then search engine can consider the site as dead as a result the ranking and traffic can be down. For this we need to add some pages at some intervals. This is the reason for installing blogs on the sites, because by these blogs our site automatically gets update. We can also do such updation by adding the new pages in the site.

Updation in optimized page: Such type of updation can be done on individual pages. There are two primary reasons for updating the page of site. First is early crawling, for this we need to change the size of the page by adding some content on page. Because when the size of the page changes, search engine thinks that the page has something new and the page gets crawled earlier. Second we can change the meta tags (Title and Description), because meta tags play important role in search engine ranking. Content refreshment for individual page is also part of this type of updation. Content refreshment is also helpful for getting better ranking and traffic. Such type of updation can enhance the ranking on search engine. Meta tags editing requires some analysis of current meta tags. For example we need to check at what position we are with these Meta tags. We need to analyze our current meta tags and the meta tags used by some top ranking sites. Appropriate Keyword Density - SEO Tips

Searching on the internet I found various answers ranging from 2% to 12% and one as high as 20%. The interesting thing is they could all be right.

But, the one thing many people fail to take into consideration when looking for this magical number is the idea that it changes based on factors related to the page or search term. Additionally, its importance in the algorithm may also fluctuate based on external influences, such as link popularity, Page rank etc.

If a keyword phrase is unique and the competition in the search engines is low, a much lower or much higher keyword density may work just fine. The overall effect density has on search results is much broader when there is little or no competition. As the competition for a phrase increases, the keyword density target becomes more critical.

In last I just want to say that Keyword density does not affect so much. Our content should be unique. As per my own experience, we can use a keyword density about 6% - 8%. That will not harm the ranking of our site.
